Sanuk Men's It's A Wrap SandalReviewsThis sandal has 2 big negatives for me... 1) The fabric on the leading edge was not finished well and scrapes the top of my foot. After about 30 minutes the skin turned red. 2) The bottom cushion is kind of thin and flexible (which I imagine confers some benefit, I just don't know what that is) which allows the trailing edge to hang down and slide across the ground as I walk. Hate that. It does have one benefit... 1) Bought these very cheap so it won't be very expensive to give them to good will...AND my foot has already worn some of the sharpness of that leading edge so the next guy should be a little less annoyed. Chicago Girl's Adjustable Quad SkateReviewsI just bought these skates for my 6 year old daughter. She was so excited to have "big girl" skates. We put them on and everything seemed great. The adjustment button functioned properly and the straps were great. Then she started to try to skate. She pushed off and went about 4 inches. The wheels barely turn. So i took them off her and tried to adjust the nuts holding the wheels on thinking they were too tight and binding the wheels. They weren't. I took a couple of the wheels off completely, held the center spindle and spun the wheel. It turned 1/2 turn and stopped. I thought maybe they needed to be greased a little so i put a little Tri-Flow on the bearings. It didn't make any difference. They are going back to Amazon today and taking my daughter to a local sports store to find her some real skates that really skate. These skates were purchased for our granddaughters sixth birthday. She loves them and has gone skating several times. She continues to improve each time she tries them. My 4 yr old had been using those adjustable plastic beginner skates for the past 2 years, and was not learning how to skate in them. She had finally outgrown them, so I decided to get some skates with real wheels. I found skates almost exactly like these with the Disney Princesses on them, for $44. I am not a fan of them, so I kept looking, knowing I could always go to them as a last resort. When I saw these non-princessed skates I fell in love! When I saw the price I thought I was in heaven. When I took them out of the box I was estatic! They are beautiful, have a nice weight to them, and are easily adjustable. Lots of room to grow. PERFECT for a girl growing at the speed of light. She wears them around the house practically every day and was already skating better the first day she put them on. I HIGHLY recommmend these to everyone looking for skates for a pre-schooler. You will not be disappointed. I took the new skates to a local professional. The professional showed me that it is very cheap skates with lousy bearings. The wheels stop instantaneously after you stop rolling the wheels. For a good skate; the wheels should continue to roll on its own for some time after you release the hand. I bought the J10-13 size for my daughters 5th birthday, she normally wears a size 9-10 shoe, and the skates fit perfectly on their smallest setting, and have plenty of room for her to grow in the next few years. The adjustment to the boot size is tough, not something your kid will be able to change on their own, just push a button and slide the boot, but it is a little tough to slide into that smallest setting, but once in place the boot locks in place good, and won't be going anywhere until you want to make it bigger or smaller. Great skate, sturdy, plenty of support, good wheels and bearings for a beginner skate, and being a skating enthusiest myself, I think the wheels and bearings function very well, so your young skater won't be fighting to try to get the wheels to roll, and will glide with ease once they are accustom to skating. For the price it is a very well put together skate, that will grow with your young skater so they will get plenty of use out of them before they grow out of them completely, and with how fast kids feet grow, the adjustment is much welcome, and doesn't cheapen the overall skate at all. Upon searching for skates for my daughters birthday, I found that our local retail stores don't carry much for skates for little kids, if at all. I was able to find this brand at Target, but only in a boys skate. I was a little weary about buying a skate online, but with no other option I went with this skate, and was very pleased once I had it in person, and was able to see my daughter in them. The size J10-13 should work for kids whose shoe size is between a 9-13, and I couldn't find a sizing chart for this item, so that is good to know if your looking to get some for your young one. Overall, 5 star product, my daughter and me love them! Average Rating:![]() |

Balance Buddy (Adjustable)ReviewsMy 4 year was getting too fast for her training wheels. This worked great and really saved my back. She is now riding all on her own after about three sessions. We'll leave it on a bit so we can guide her through tricky parts of the neighborhood, but this thing takes the pain out of teaching. I bought this after seeing a neighbor teach her son to ride with it. We never needed training wheels and my daughter learned to balance in less than an hour. I like the shape of the handle as it doesn't catch on things like trees and bushes as she goes by as some other handles look like they might. The simple design went right on the rear axle in seconds and is always at the right height for me to crab on if I need to assist- even with her baby brother on my hip! I have recommended it to everyone I see! I vividly remember the first time I rode my bike without training wheels. I rode straight for about three houses; then, in the middle of an intersection, my bike spun around five times and threw me to the ground. (Hey, that's what it felt like, and my friends all agreed: five times!) I suppose avoiding that kind of learning experience was what prompted me to look into riding "assistants." I read the reviews and thought the Balance Buddy sounded like a great idea. My 3-year-old has a Cars 12-Inch Boys BMX Bike by Huffy and he's just starting to want to ride it. The BB was easy to put on, but seemed (despite all the reviews talking about how it allows you to walk upright) a little short. I'm 6 feet tall and extended to its longest position, the BB is just about at my fingertips. It does move up and down (pivots at the axle) so that's helpful. The bike is only a 12-incher, so obviously the BB would be an easier reach on a larger bike. At first my son didn't want me to have anything to do with his riding; he would only let the 8-year-old neighbor boy "push" him. After a couple of days, though, he allowed me to help him ride. I hope it wasn't my fault, but he insisted that I put the training wheels back on the bike. We've only been at this for a few days; maybe he's just not ready for two wheels. No rush; he'll have plenty of time to eat asphalt between now and his 16th birthday. Once he gets more comfortable with the whole balancing concept, I'll revise my review as necessary. We already have an older daughter who learned the old-fashioned way at 5yrs old so we had a good idea of what teaching to ride entailed. Our second daughter (4yrs old) got a bike with training wheels and hated it because it was too wobbly. I saw this and decided to give it a shot. It has been a couple months and she still isn't riding and at this point is so discouraged, she cries when we suggest she ride her bike to the park (4 houses away). This is not magic. Your kid pretty much has to be almost there for this to be helpful. If you are looking for something to really teach balance, put the bike in the garage for a while and invest in a balance bike - sometimes called a pre-bike. It is two wheels with no pedals so kids learn to balance on their own, unassisted then move back to their regular bike. There are several 3yr. olds in our neighborhood riding regular bikes because they had balance bikes starting around age 2. I wish we hadn't spent the $20 on this and instead put that money into a balance bike. Best money ever spent! We tried for a day or two the old fashioned way with me holding the back of the seat and had the worst time. When we used the balance buddy my daughter learned in 2 days! No bending over for me and she was so much more stable. Average Rating:![]() |

Roller Derby Coyote Adjustable Boy's Inline SkatesReviewsWe gave my son this pair of rollerblades for his birthday a couple of weeks ago and he loves them. The wheels are really nice on them, allowing my son to rollerblade a lot smoother. I really like the adjustability on them - you hardly notice that they are adjustable - allowing him to wear them for a long time. I would recommend these to anyone looking to buy their child a decent pair of blades. She can put them on herself (she's an 8-year old girl) and wears them all the time even inside the house. Great product.. BTW I know it says it's for boys, but both my 7-year old boy and she can use them.. now I'm getting a second pair The skates were just what my 5 year old nephew wanted. Within a day he was out skating with Dad. The price was perfect for beginners and the skates will grow with him. I got this for my 5 1/2 year old son after doing some research on line. We had tried on a "step-in" pair (don't have to take shoes off) that had training wheels at ToysRUs, but were not very happy with it since once you take the training wheels off the flaw of not having much ankle support showed. It was also hard to roll especially for a first timer. My son has been playing after school with a neighbor's kid almost everyday, and she just started learning in a pair newly bought from Amazon and they were very conmfy, and the kids wanted to practise together, so I decided to get him a "real" pair here too. Her parents recommanded Roller Derby and Bladerunner (the latter was the one I got for myself at the same time for keeping up with my son). After reading all the comments I made the purchase. Both my pair and my son's arrived in a few days and he loves his (so do I), fits and looks great, nice boots that keep his ankles straight, and they roll very easily. He's already walking in it by himself within a few minutes of trying it on. This is a great start I can tell. I would definitely recommand it to anyone. It's great buy for the money. Bought these for my 9 year old and he loves them!! I love that they are adjustable so he should be able to wear them for awhile. Average Rating:![]() |
