I'm an adult recreational skater currently taking group lessons to build up some basic (as well as some advanced) skating skills. These skates are a 200% improvement over rentals, and they're great entry level skates. An advanced skater who reviewed these on another site said she was even doing her jumps and spins in them.... I suspect that for MOST people, by the time you're doing jumps and spins, you'll need better skates than these. But, for anything else, these are wonderful -- very comfortable ("soft boot" indeed), and my feet don't freeze. And, for basic skating, they have plenty of ankle support, too. I really hope Lake Placid keeps this model around for awhile. Oh, and, in addition to being very functional, they also look great; it's a very classy design. I've gotten lots of compliments :)

I purchased this for my son. I wanted to have the advantage of the fact that it is adjustable. that is the #1 reason for purchasing this skate. I looked at all of my other choices and got this. It was wonderful. easy to adjust my 8 year old can do it himself. It has the size on a side and as u r turning the dial it tells u what size u are at. We love it. I am sure he will get a few seasons out of these & grow out of them just in time for my next son to use.

I was hesitant to buy figure skates over the internet, because everyone at the rink tries to pressure you into going to local skate shops, paying a fortune, and getting expensive custom-fit skates. Well, I am just starting ice dancing so I needed a basic pair of skates to start with, and I didn't feel like shelling out a few hundred bucks at a skate shop. And, the rental skates are NOT an option ... not only are they gross, you can never learn to do a swizzle in them. I took the plunge and chose these skates. I followed the general rule that you should pick one size below your shoe size. Guess what ... these skates are great! They fit perfectly, and no real break in time was required. When I first put them on, I was alarmed because they seemed to push too much against the back of my calves. But I bent them a little bit and walked around with them inside the house. Once they were sharpened and I was on the ice, they felt GREAT. They gave the needed ankle and calf support that I was looking for and they did not hurt at all. I was literally gliding across the ice in these. Of course as time passes I will save and trade up to Jacksons and will probably get them custom fit, etc. etc. but for a beginner these are perfect. I also was pleased with this merchant. Shipping was reasonable for the weight, and the skates came quickly. The Skates Came very fast especially for being the Christmas season. They work perfectly for my 11 year old daughter. They are easy to get on and easy to get off and to tighten which is the most important thing and they give great support.
